Description

Horowhenua District Council serves a proud community of nearly 33,000 people. The Horowhenua district is on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island and forms part of the Manawatu-Wanganui region. Located north of Wellington and Kapiti, Horowhenua sits between Otaki in the south and Himatangi in the north, and stretches from the west coast to the Tararua Ranges towards the east. The largest town in Horowhenua is Levin, with the other two towns being Foxton and Shannon. The other communities in the district include Manakau, Waikawa Beach, Hokio Beach, Foxton Beach, Tokomaru and Opiki.
